- Adult beverages. We will have coffee and tea, but you will need to bring any soft drinks and adult beverages you wish to enjoy.
- Ice chests with plenty of ice
- Shotgun and shells. (We do have guns to rent and shells to purchase)
- Blaze orange cap or vest. If you do not have either of these, we do sell hats in the lodge.
- Comfortable walking or hiking boots. We will walk an average of 3-4 miles each hunt, so bring comfortable boots.
- Camera
- There is a house phone in the lodge; 830.426.3668. However, the house phone only takes incoming calls. If you have ATT cell service, you will be ok. Sprint and Verizon do not work at the ranch.
Packing For Your Continental Pheasant Shoot
- Current TPW hunting license. You do not need an upland gamebird stamp for preserve birds. If you are traveling from out of state, you will need a “Banded Gamebird License”. If you want to buy a license online click here
- Ice-chest for your birds
- Shotgun---Break-open guns only, no automatics or pumps!
- Shotgun shells--*7.5 shot and 6 shot are best. Please nothing larger than 6 shot as it pulverizes the birds
- Chokes for your shotguns. Every peg has it’s own unique shooting lane. You will appreciate having tighter chokes for the high birds on the back line.
- Shooting glasses are mandatory. We will have several pairs to use in the event someone does not have a pair.
- Camo attire….no blaze orange as the birds will flare on bright orange.
4R Ranch Booking Policy
We appreciate each and every booking made at the 4R and are honored that you chose us to host your hunt. With that being said, we run a seasonal business and have a limited window of time to make hay. Cancellations and “No-Shows” put us in a precarious situation because of the preparations made for each and every hunt. We will do our level-headed best to fill any canceled slots, but can make no guarantees that we can do so. This is especially true if the cancellation is made 30 days prior to your hunt date.
Our booking and cancellation policy is simple:
- Once your hunt date(s) are booked, you are responsible for 50% of the hunt cost. If you cancel within 30 days of your hunt, you will be responsible for 100% of the hunt cost.
- Applying the cancellation fee is the least favorite thing we do at the 4R. However, we know that we provide the best hunting experience there is to be found anywhere and we do it at prices that are affordable. Deviating from our cancellation policy would force us to raise all of our prices, and that is something we refuse to do.
- Payment: You can use cash, check, or credit card for payment.
- The 4R does reserve the right to cancel or reschedule hunts based on unfavorable weather conditions, although this rarely happens.
